Every Maker Model, Broken Down
OMTech Maker AF2028-60 (60W)
The AF2028-60 is the most affordable way into the Maker series, and it's also the only 60W model in the lineup with autofocus built in — a feature usually reserved for pricier machines. With a 20" x 28" honeycomb and aluminum-blade workbed, a 600 mm/s max engraving speed, and the ability to cut up to 0.4" deep, it's a genuinely capable machine for signs, engraved gifts, and small-batch production. If you're coming from a desktop diode laser and want your first real CO2 machine, this is where we'd point most people.
OMTech Maker MF2028-80 (90W)
Step up to 90W with the MF2028-80, which keeps the same 20" x 28" working area but adds significantly more cutting power for thicker materials and faster throughput on engraving jobs. This model uses manual focus rather than autofocus — a small extra step in setup, but it keeps the price below the autofocus 90W version, making it a solid choice if you don't mind dialing in focus by hand.
OMTech Maker AF2028-80 (90W)
The AF2028-80 pairs that same 90W output with autofocus, making it OMTech's go-to recommendation for makers who want power and convenience without jumping to the Pro line. Same 20" x 28" bed, same 600 mm/s top speed, but with the workbed adjusting itself at the touch of a button. If your shop runs a steady stream of jobs and you're tired of manually focusing between every material change, this is the upgrade that pays for itself in time saved.
OMTech Maker MF2028-100 (100W)
At 100W, the MF2028-100 is the highest-power machine in the standard 20" x 28" Maker footprint. It's built for shops that regularly cut thicker acrylic, wood, or leather and want the extra headroom that comes with more wattage — faster cuts, cleaner edges, and less strain on the tube for everyday jobs. Like the MF2028-80, it uses manual focus, keeping it priced below the equivalent autofocus models while still delivering serious cutting power.
OMTech Maker AF4063-150 (150W)
The AF4063-150 is in a different league entirely — a 150W machine with a massive 40" x 63" working area, autofocus, and motorized workbeds. This is the machine for shops doing large signage, big sheet-goods cutting, or production runs where a 20" x 28" bed just isn't enough. It's powered by a Yongli A8s tube rated for up to 8,000 hours, and it supports rotary attachments for 360° engraving on cylindrical items. If you're outgrowing your current setup and need real shop floor capability, this is where the Maker series tops out.
3 Things to Check Before You Buy a Maker
Autofocus vs. Manual Focus
Autofocus saves time switching materials, but the manual-focus models (MF2028-80, MF2028-100) get you more power for less money if you don't mind dialing in focus by hand.
Every Maker Needs a Chiller
All five Maker models, including the 60W, are water-cooled, not air-cooled. Check whether a chiller is bundled with the machine or needs to be added separately.
Bed Size vs. Your Materials
Most Makers share a 20" x 28" bed; the AF4063-150 jumps to 40" x 63". Measure your typical sheet sizes before deciding — a bigger bed only helps if it fits your space and workflow.

Maker Series FAQ
For most people moving up from a desktop diode laser, the AF2028-60 is the easiest starting point. It's the most affordable Maker model and includes autofocus, which removes one of the biggest learning curves for new CO2 laser owners.
Manual focus means you adjust the bed height or focus lens by hand for each material thickness using a focus tool. Autofocus does this automatically at the press of a button. Both achieve the same result, but autofocus saves time when switching between materials often.
Yes. Our code THE3IN1WORKSHOP5OFF applies a 5% discount at checkout across OMTech's Maker series and most other OMTech machines and accessories. We verify it regularly to make sure it's current.
Yes. All of the Maker series machines, including the 60W model, require a water chiller for stable cooling and tube longevity. None of these are air-cooled. OMTech frequently bundles a free or discounted chiller with these machines during promotions, so check the options on each product page before buying a chiller separately.
